Driving Data-Informed Decisions: Harmonising Tools, StrengtheningEvidence, Advancing GESI

This quarter, the Unlocking Data Initiative (UDI) made major strides in building a more coherent and evidence-driven education ecosystem. Five County Directors of Education participated in harmonising foundational learning data collection tools, paving the way for consistent, comparable data across counties.

Zizi Afrique also deepened her collaboration with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) towards establishing a new evidence synthesis resource centre, which is an important step for system-wide decision-making. A key highlight was the finalisation and launch of the National Research Gender Agenda, developed with 21 institutions, including the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), the Forum for African Women Educationalists Kenya (FAWEK), and the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI). The agenda outlines five strategic pillars for GESI research and coordination, officially unveiled on 10th December 2025.
